And here is photo #4, which shows what happens when you merge the two separate block patterns. It may be immediately apparent to some of you that there would have been an easier way to create this quilt pattern, but since I didn't know where I wanted to go with the broken dishes blocks at the start, I am happy to have arrived by this route.

I love it. It's better that you made each block separately and without thinking of the whole until you had already done a lot. More like how we live.
P.S. Andy and I went to our first auction this weekend outside Lancaster...will tell you about it in person next time we chat.
Being a 'Dish Queen', the patten name made me fearful and uneasy.
Seing the separations and the assembly put me at more at ease, as quilts can sometimes do.
